Mr John Barrington
John is an acknowledged leader in strategy and governance. He advises boards and CEOs of some of Australia’s leading corporations, government enterprises and non-profits.
A unique skillset helps John advise clients on breakthrough strategies. John is a leading global expert in the widely-used Argenti System of Strategic Planning and is at the forefront of thinking on strategic governance. He is one of Australia’s most-effective facilitators, having led more than 1,000 strategy sessions over 20 years.
John was the State Manager, Western Australia of the Australian Graduate School of Management Executive MBA program from 1995 to 2004.
Drawing on his 10 years in the Information Technology industry, he is currently working on the intersection of strategy, governance and Artificial Intelligence. He is a co-founder and Executive Chairman of technology start-up AlphaIntell, partnering with IBM to provide AI services to client organisations.
In addition to chairing the Curtin School of Management Advisory Board, John is also Chair of Perth Festival and Chairman of Anglicare WA.
He holds a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University, an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and of the Australian Institute of Management WA.
He was a Finalist in the 2018 Western Australian of the Year Award and in 2017 John received the Australian Institute of Company Directors-PwC Award for Director Excellence in the Not-for-Profit Sector.
