Mr Cliff Gillam
Cliff Gillam has over twenty years of public sector experience in human resource management and labour relations roles. He received the award for Human Resource Management Practitioner of the Year from the Institute of Public Administration Australia, Western Australia, at its 2015 Achievement Awards recognising excellence in the public sector. The Department Of Education was awarded the AIM Westbusiness Pinnacle Award for excellence in HR Management in the same year
Prior to entering the public service, Cliff worked as an academic and as a theatre arts professional. He was Executive Director of People and Organisational Development at the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia between 2003 and 2008. During which, the agency underwent rapid expansion to bring the Southern Suburbs rail link to fruition. This was the largest public infrastructure project in Western Australia in over 100 years.
He has also held senior management roles in human resources in conservation and labour relations agencies.
Cliff is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and has been a leader in developing effective workforce planning and development strategies in the WA public sector. He has chaired sector wide committees on benchmarking of HR service provision.
He returned to the public sector after a short sabbatical period in early 2009, to take up his present position as Executive Director Workforce in the Department of Education in August 2009. The Department of Education is Western Australia’s largest public sector employer.
