Bronwyn Barnes

With more than 15 years in the resources sector Bronwyn has worked for companies ranging from BHP Billiton to emerging juniors in director, leadership and operational roles. She has a passion for the industry and its relationships with the outside world, and an outstanding track record of ensuring effective corporate governance, winning government endorsement and approval, and driving equity for indigenous peoples.

She has steered major projects from exploration to operation, and connected the WA resources sector with international mining investment. Bronwyn was recently awarded the prestigious Outstanding Woman in Resources Award 2015 by the Western Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy.

Bronwyn has extensive board experience in industries stretching beyond the resources sector that reflect her interests in corporate governance, indigenous affairs, education and political life. She is currently Non-Executive Chair, Auris Minerals Limited, an Independent Director for Martu Peoples Ltd, a Member of the Advisory Council for the Business School of Curtin University and a Committee Member of The 500 Club.

Most recently Bronwyn was General Manager – Corporate and Deputy CEO for Alliance Mining Commodities’ $1bn Koumbia bauxite project development in Guinea. She negotiated with the Government of Guinea to ratify the Mining Convention, obtain all major project approvals and secured community support for this major mining and infrastructure development in West Africa. She was also responsible for leading the financing process and had sole responsibility for negotiating funding support from development finance agencies throughout Europe.
